Nishigandh - Women in sobriety

Muktangan Rehabilitation Center has started an exclusive rehabilitation center for the residential treatment of female substance users.

Late Dr. Anita Awachat and Dr. Anil Awachat founded Muktangan Rehabilitation Center on August 29th, 1986 and over the time span of more than 22 years, it has achieved the status of being one of the best institutes in the field of Drugs & Alcohol de-addiction today & the only Institute with ISO 9001:2008 certification. Muktangan has a capacity to cater over 120 residential clients. Its treatment module is of 5 weeks residential stay and on completion of the same, there is a regular follow up, for which it has a strong network of 20 follow up centers all over Maharashtra.

Every year over 1200 clients take residential treatment at Muktangan Rehabilitation Center and over & above many clients facilitate from our Out Patient Department both at Rehabilitation Center at Yerwada & Counseling Center at Narayan Peth.

The "Nishigandh" ward which is started by Muktangan for females is an Independent Entity and is Governed & Managed by all female staff. Hence, without any stigma, the woman would be in a position to come forward and undergo treatment at the center without the fear of social backlash.

NISHIGANDH's sole purpose is to help all women recover from the problem of addiction through the discovery of self and necessity of self-esteem. The addiction began to overcome Stress, Loneliness, Frustration, Emotional Deprivation, or any number of other reasons. The physical dependence can only be overcome by abstinence. The psychological addiction can be coped with counseling, group therapy, music & art therapy, meditation etc.
